Attention Veterinarians and Staff:
Professional Veterinary Assistant School has been educating Veterinary Attendants, Assistants and Alternate Route Veterinary Technician Candidates in the Orange County, Los Angeles and other surrounding areas since 2002. We would let you know what we have to offer you and what you can do for us.
Veterinary Attendant Program
What We Offer:
The 3-month Veterinary Attendant Program is designed to be a short course to educate individuals in the basic concepts and generalities of veterinary medicine. Graduates should possess the knowledge and skill level to be a viable candidate for an entry-level position in a veterinary hospital. Upon completion of the course, graduates in good standing will be given job placement assistance if needed.
This 12 week class meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:00-7:00pm. See the enclosed Addendum for schedule details.
What you can do for us:
The Veterinary Attendant program needs externship sites, if you are interested in sponsoring a beginning level student as a volunteer at your facility, call us today for more details.
Graduates of the Veterinary Attendant Program are looking for their first job! Please let us know if you have a beginning level opening at your hospital or clinic.
Veterinary Assistant Program
What We Offer:
Do you have current employees interested in furthering their knowledge by obtaining a certificate in Veterinary Assisting and then preparing to be a licensed technician through the alternate route?
The Veterinary Assistant Program is designed to educate individuals in the basic concepts and generalities of veterinary medicine and prepare them to assist doctors and technicians in small animal hospitals. Upon completion of the course, graduates will be awarded a certificate of completion. Graduates with at least 3 years experience working in an animal hospital can then go on to the Alternate Route Veterinary Technician Candidate Program to prepare for licensing as a Registered Veterinary Technician.
We have both onsite and distance learning options. A new class begins every 4 months. .
What you can do for us:
Students in the Veterinary Assistant program are required to be working in a hospital to apply to this program. They must do a 188 hour externship during their class period. Once in a while, a student in this class is not able to complete their externship with their current employer. So we need animal hospitals that are willing to sponsor these students, who do have some experience working in an animal hospital, to be able to complete their externship requirements. They can work either as a volunteer or just enough hours a week to complete their assignment.
Please let us know if you are willing to sponsor students at this level for their externship.
Alternate Route Veterinary Technician Candidate Program
What We Offer:
The Veterinary Assistant Program and the Alternate Route Veterinary Technician Candidate Program together are needed to complete the educational requirement to take the California RVT licensure exam under the Alternate Route Category. The instruction in these two programs is designed to prepare the student for license requirements by combining subjects and teaching specific principles deemed necessary by the Veterinary Medical Board, Registered Veterinary Technician Committee, and practicing veterinarians. Students will focus on material they need to know to work as a technician in a small animal hospital without having to take general educational courses prior to entering the program. The program will provide students the opportunity to keep working and gain the education they need to be licensed. Upon completion of the course, graduates will be awarded a certificate of completion
